Sauk County non-profits receive support from Alliant Energy and its Foundation

Grants, year-end giving total more than $12,000 for area groups

MADISON, Wis. – January 13, 2014 – In December 2013, non-profits in Sauk County received community grants and other support totaling $12,100 from Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation.

Grants made through the Foundation’s Community Grant Program in the central region of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin service area went to:

  • Veterans Equine Trails Services, $4,000 for its equine therapy service for veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; 
  • The Ferry Bluff Eagle Council, $2,000 to support Bald Eagle Watching Days, the premier eagle festival in central Wisconsin;
  • The Reedsburg School District, $1,950 to support the Reedsburg Choraliers; and
  • The Sauk County Children’s Giving Tree, $1,000 for Bundle Up 2013, which provides winter clothing for underprivileged youth.

The grants were made through the Alliant Energy Foundation’s Community Grants Program, which has awarded more than $400,000 in grants during its third-of-three grant cycles in 2013. More than $1 million was provided to non-profit organizations across the Alliant Energy service area in 2013. The Foundation awards community grants to specific projects benefiting the community in the areas of arts, education, environment, and human and civic needs.

In addition, Alliant Energy year-end giving helped support the Baraboo Food Pantry, Sauk Prairie Food Pantry, Reedsburg Food Pantry, Sauk City Fire Department, Friends of Baraboo Zoo and the Sauk County Art Association.
