Alliant Energy Foundation provides $3,000 grant to City of Sibley

Funding will help upgrade municipal Max Theatre

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – January 16, 2013 – The Alliant Energy Foundation gave $3,000 to the City of Sibley in December to help the Max Theatre convert its operations from 35 mm film to digital projection technology. The upgrade will help preserve business viability, expand access to a greater number of newly-produced films and increase operational flexibility.

“The Max Theatre is the only one serving the county and surrounding area, making it an important centerpiece of the community,” said Julie Bauer, Alliant Energy Foundation executive director. “We are glad to support the theater in its modernization efforts.”

This project is part of a larger community effort by the City and Osceola County to maintain the theater’s viability.

The grants were made through the Alliant Energy Foundation’s Community Grants Program, which has awarded more than $275,000 in grants during its third-of-three grant cycles in 2012. More than $1 million was provided to 557 non-profit organizations across the Alliant Energy service area in 2012. The Foundation awards community grants to specific projects benefiting the community in the areas of arts, education, environment, and human and civic needs.
