Alliant Energy Power Wisconsin project completed near Fond du Lac

Company invests over three million dollars in new Forest Substation to support area growth

Fond du Lac, Wis. – September 14, 2012 – Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, has completed another Power Wisconsin Project. The project involved building a new substation near the intersection of State Highway 23 and Townline Road, just west of the City of Fond du Lac. The Forest Substation was put into service about two weeks ago and it will support growth on the City’s west side and also increase electric reliability.

“The area west of the city of Fond du Lac is experiencing a large amount of commercial and residential load growth,” said Greg Ardrey, Alliant Energy’s Manager of Project Management - Substations. “The new Forest Substation will allow us to add more electric load and at the same it will provide us with a back-up to other substations which will increase reliability in the area.

The Forest Substation is located adjacent to an American Transmission Company transmission line and this will help boost electric voltage in the Fond du Lac area. Alliant Energy’s total investment in the new Forest Substation was approximately $3.3 million.

Alliant Energy’s 2012 Power Wisconsin Plan includes approximately $60 million of planned investments this year in upgrading overhead and underground electric lines, electric substations and natural gas infrastructure. Power Wisconsin’s goal is to improve system reliability, reduce outages, and provide more reliable power to Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin customers.
