Alliant Energy Foundation provides $2,000 grant to Old Fort Players

Dollars will be used for new stage curtain installation

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – September 5, 2012 – The Alliant Energy Foundation has provided a $2,000 Community Grant to the Old Fort Players to purchase a new, fire-retardant stage curtain. The community theater has been using a non-fire retardant curtain made of bed sheets sewn together and mounted on a large curtain rod.

“The Alliant Energy Foundation supports numerous community theaters across our utility service territory and we are pleased to provide funding to the Old Fort Players,” said Julie Bauer, Alliant Energy Foundation Executive Director. “The new curtain will make the theater safer for everyone and will give it a more professional look for attendees.”

The Alliant Energy Foundation Community Grants Program awarded $335,000 in grants during its second grant cycle this year, bringing the year-to-date total to over $750,000 provided to more than 400 non-profit organizations and communities so far. The deadline for the final grant cycle this year is September 15. The online application is available at www.alliantenergy.com/foundation.
