Alliant Energy Foundation awards $5,000 grant to Marshalltown Economic Development Impact Committee

Funds will be used for raised flower beds as part of the 13th Street Revitalization Project

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – September 5, 2012 – The Alliant Energy Foundation has provided a $5,000 Community Grant to the Marshalltown Economic Development Impact Committee (MEDIC) for raised flower beds that are part of the extensive 13th Street Revitalization Project. 13th Street is a major gateway to the Iowa Veterans Home that brings many people to Marshalltown and it was once a thriving part of downtown. Work on the project is ongoing with the flower beds being one of the last steps to completing it.

“We are pleased to provide a grant to help with the large beautification effort along 13th Street in Marshalltown,” said Tom Aller, Alliant Energy Foundation President. “Alliant Energy and our Foundation are proud to be partners with the city on many levels and contribute to the economic vitality of the area.”

The Alliant Energy Foundation Community Grants Program awarded $335,000 in grants during its second grant cycle this year, bringing the year-to-date total to over $750,000 provided to more than 400 non-profit organizations and communities so far.
