STOUGHTON, Wisconsin – May 21, 2012 – Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, will begin a Power Wisconsin Project next week in the downtown Stoughton area.
Over the course of the approximately six week project, WPL will be installing 4,600 feet of new gas main on the north side of Main Street, North 5th Street, Forrest Street, Division Street and the alley just north of Main Street. In addition to the new gas main, WPL crews will also be upgrading the gas services to 59 customer homes.
This $170,000 investment will improve the reliability of Stoughton’s gas system. Increasing the size of the gas main will create a more robust system and improve the flow of gas in the case of a service interruption somewhere on the system.
WPL asks people to please use caution and take the time to not only watch out for our work crews, but also be alert as they walk, bike and drive through the impacted areas during the course of the project. Drivers in particular are asked to use slower speeds in the work areas.
“This upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to provide reliable gas service for our Stoughton area customers,” says Dennis Beggs, Manager-Customer Operations for WPL. “We appreciate the cooperation of everyone who works, lives and visits the downtown area during this important project.”
