Additionally Hy-Vee undertook projects in refrigeration in several stores and upgraded the furnaces at their Chariton warehouse. In total, the energy efficiency projects for 2011 account for over 1 million kWh in annual energy savings.
“The LED lighting upgrades pay for themselves,” says Jon Scanlan, Director, Refrigeration and Energy Management. “The energy savings is substantial and the rebates are key.”
“Energy efficiency addresses both energy cost concerns and our environment,” said Tom Aller, President of IPL. “We’re recognizing Hy-Vee for the impact and leadership shown.”
