DUBUQUE, IOWA – April 17, 2012 – Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, recognizes Progressive Processing, LLC for its commitment to using energy efficiently and being green.
Progressive Processing was honored with a 2011 Excellence in Energy Efficiency Award for its leadership and vision in integrating energy efficiency in to the design, construction, or operation of their business. The company accepted this award today at the 2012 Iowa Energy Summit, held in Cedar Rapids.
In 2011, the facility is being recognized for the plant’s energy efficient production equipment and for phase two of the commercial new construction project. Examples of the energy efficient production equipment include: compressed air, pumps, motors, refrigeration, and variable frequency drives. By extending the project to include the production equipment, the plant is able to realize more than two-million kilowatt-hours (kWh) in annual energy savings over standard efficiency equipment.
Using the commercial new construction program, Hormel Foods Corporation built Progressive Processing, LLC, a 348,000 square-foot production facility in 2010. The plant was recognized with an Excellence in Energy Efficiency award that year as well.
“Progressive Processing, LLC is committed to making great products and limiting our impact on the environment and uses at least 25 percent less energy and water than a plant built to meet current building codes and industry standards,” said Mark A. Zelle, plant manager at Progressive Processing.
“Energy efficiency addresses both energy cost concerns and our environment,” said Tom Aller, President of IPL. “We’re recognizing Progressive Processing for the impact and leadership shown.”
Alliant Energy awarded the 2011 Excellence in Energy Efficiency Awards to its commercial and industrial customers who underwent energy efficiency initiatives that yielded the highest cost and energy-savings. The 2012 Energy Summit provided attendees with a variety of energy-related educational sessions, technical information and energy solutions.
