Cedar Rapids, Iowa – April 25, 2012 – The Alliant Energy Foundation announced today that it has made a $2,500 donation to the American Red Cross – Central Iowa Chapter. The donation is to support ongoing storm recovery efforts after several rounds of severe weather moved across southwest Iowa in the late afternoon and evening hours of Saturday, April 14.
As part of the storms, a tornado struck Creston, Iowa, and caused significant damage to the Greater Regional Medical Center, Southwestern Community College, Creston Public Schools and surrounding apartments, homes and vehicles. As part of their response to the severe weather damage, the American Red Cross has secured equipment and supplies to support the relief operation. They continue to serve meals, organize blood drives and work to find housing for those affected. The initial focus of the relief efforts is on the basic needs of the people affected.

Alliant Energy employees are directly involved in the recovery and planning efforts as well. Many are volunteering in cleanup programs, while some have been personally affected themselves.
