Alliant Energy Power Wisconsin project upcoming in Cambridge

$73,000 investment will improve gas system reliability

CAMBRIDGE, Wisconsin – April 3, 2012 – Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, will begin another Power Wisconsin Project later this month in the downtown Cambridge area.

WPL will replace and upgrade about 2,000 feet of aging underground natural gas main on Spring Street in between East Main and Water Streets. Crews will be replacing two inch gas main with 4 inch gas main, which will add more capacity and help increase the flow of natural gas through the system.

This upgrade will impact some downtown area businesses over the course of the 4-6 week project. However, any service interruptions to those customers will be scheduled in advance, prior to the work on their services.

“This upgrade is part of our commitment to provide reliable gas service for our Cambridge area customers,” says Dennis Beggs, Manager-Customer Operations for WPL. “We appreciate the cooperation of everyone who works, lives and visits the area during this important project.”

Customers with questions are encouraged to call 1-800-ALLIANT (1-800-255-4268).

Alliant Energy’s 2012 Power Wisconsin Plan includes $50 million of planned investments this year in upgrading overhead and underground electric lines, electric substations and natural gas infrastructure. Power Wisconsin’s goal is to improve system reliability, reduce outages, and provide more reliable power to Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin customers.
