Alliant Energy Foundation provides $2,500 grant to Colo Fire and Rescue

Dollars will support emergency response vehicle maintenance and upgrades

COLO, Iowa – January 19, 2012 – The Alliant Energy Foundation has provided the Colo Fire and Rescue Department a $2,500 grant to assist with the cost of routine maintenance and upgrades to the emergency response and rescue vehicles. Colo Fire and Rescue responds to emergency situations spanning more than a 100 miles, and are also called upon to provide mutual aid to various outlying communities.

“We believe the ability of communities to effectively respond to crisis hinges on their access to safety-related equipment, including transportation,” said Alliant Energy Foundation Executive Director, Julie Bauer. “We are happy to partner with the Colo Fire and Rescue team and take great pride in being able to make a difference in the communities we serve.”

A thorough evaluation and inspection of each vehicle will be conducted to determine the priority of immediate repairs and necessary upgrades. To further conserve funds and resources of the department, Colo Fire and Rescue members will make an in-kind donation of labor for the truck inspections.

“We are extremely appreciative for this Community Grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation,” said Colo Fire and Rescue Chief Mark Ferren. “Proper vehicle maintenance and upgrades ensure that our trucks are reliable and our response to emergencies is swift, which enables us to fulfill our mission of protecting and assisting our community.”
