Alliant Energy Foundation provides Janesville’s GIFTS Men’s Shelter and House of Mercy Homeless Center with $2,500 gifts

MADISON, WI – December 20, 2011 – The Alliant Energy Foundation is spreading a little extra holiday cheer to six non-profit organizations across Wisconsin through a year-end giving campaign. As part of that $13,500 initiative, the Foundation is providing Janesville’s GIFTS Men’s Shelter and the House of Mercy Homeless Center each with a $2,500 gift.

“We are incredibly grateful for this gift from the Alliant Energy Foundation,” said Ron Ochs, board chair of GIFTS Men’s Shelter. “As it truly embodies the hopeful spirit and message of Christmas.”

“The House of Mercy Homeless Center is usually filled to capacity, and we often have a waiting list. Sadly, this is true despite rain, snow or shine, on Christmas or any other day of the year,” said Shirley Van Horn, House of Mercy manager. “As we strive to provide support and shelter to those most in need, we warmly welcome this gift from the Alliant Energy Foundation, as well as donations of all sizes from community members during this season of generosity.”

“We are honored and humbled to be able to reach out to human service organizations before the holidays to assist our neighbors in need,” said Julie Bauer, Alliant Energy Foundation Executive Director. “During this season of giving and throughout the year, we are grateful to be able to make a difference in the communities we serve.”
