Alliant Energy's Wisconsin utility manages fuel costs to limit adjustments in 2014

MADISON, Wis. – November 14, 2013 – Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin utility received approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin today to adjust retail electric rates by approximately two percent in 2014 due to higher expected fuel costs next year.

“We work very hard to manage fuel costs. Our efforts in 2012 led to a refund last September of $11 million for our electric customers,” said John Larsen, President of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin utility. “Even with next year’s approved adjustment, customers’ per kilowatt-hour costs will still be lower than they were in 2011.”

The 2014 fuel cost adjustment will increase the monthly bill of a typical residential electric customer by approximately $1.17 beginning in January. Impacts of the change will vary for residential, commercial and industrial customers, depending on their usage patterns and applicable rate.
