A critical element of Alliant Energy’s strategic plan includes investing in our largest and most efficient power plants. These investments are designed to improve air quality and increase the efficiency of these facilities, providing our customers with competitive and reliable power for decades to come.
Recently-approved and proposed federal environmental rules will require substantial reductions in mercury (Hg), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions at our power plants. To comply, we’ve already begun installing or have plans to install several types of air quality control systems at several of our generating stations.
