Alliant Energy - WPL's winter construction rates will be in effect December 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012.
The winter construction charge for gas or electric will be $4.00 per foot for the entire length of the service. This $4.00 per foot is in addition to any other charges you may incur for gas or electric distribution extensions or over-length services. Winter construction charges will apply to all facilities installed from December 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 inclusive, except when the customer has met ALL the requirements before December 1, 2011.
Customer requirements have been met when the customer has provided:
- Final grade within six inches
- Application for service on file
- Location of customer owned underground facilities
- Lot pin locations for gas main and primary cable extensions
- Trench route cleared of brush, dirt piles, debris, construction materials or other impediments Installation of meter socket
- Payment of invoice, if applicable
NOTE: Services will not be hooked up until the necessary wiring and piping affidavits have been received.
If you cannot meet the December 1, 2011 deadline, the other option you have is to pay $185.40 plus $3.40 per foot for a tubed service. We will lay the electric secondary or service to your home on top of the ground in flexible tubing until after March 31, 2012 when we will begin to bury the services.
Please review the service rule information for tubed services. A 30" x 30" hole must be provided at the base of the house riser in order to connect the flexible tubing. This tubing will be used on secondary cable only - no primary will be tubed. If you have further questions, contact our Engineering Department.
